Ts. Dr. Zack Zairul Mohd Noor
Architectural Education in the 21st century education is about giving students the skills they need to succeed in this new world and helping them grow the confidence to practice those skills. With so much information readily available to them, 21st century skills focus more on making sense of that information, sharing and using it in smart ways. Architectural Education will remain inert until teachers and students breathe life into it. Several approaches and innovative pedagogies are needed to change the way we taught in current situation. Therefore, this requires a sophisticated network thinking skills and cognitive processes to bridge the practical and theory inside the architectural education. Ts. Dr. Zack Zairul M N is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture of Faculty of Design and Architecture at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). He is a professional technologist (Ts.), a member of Lembaga Akitek Malaysia (LAM) and Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM). He obtained his Ph.D. from Technology University of Delft (Netherlands) in 2016 and became the first Malaysian G.O.T in the Netherlands for his doctorate degree. Recently, he promotes a new innovative teaching in Architectural Studies through S.O.L.E module intervention. In this intervention, the module lead to the adoptions of teamwork, critical thinking, technologically competent and multidisciplinary approach. The module perhaps interweaving inside the social-cognitive in social settings like studio and emphasizes the cognitive and behavioural aspects that design students experience as part of the learning outcome.
