Assoc. Prof. Ar Meor Mohammad Fared Bin Meor Razali

Qualifications: Registered Professional Architect with Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) Corporate Member of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) B. Arch (Tennessee, USA) (equivalent to LAM Part 2) B. Arts in Architecture (Iowa State, USA) (equivalent to LAM Part 1) Assoc. Prof. Ar Meor Mohammad Fared is currently a lecturer at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Design and Architecture, UPM since Jan. 2006. He served as the Head of Department of Architecture from Oct. 2007 until Jan. 2016. He graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in 1986 and University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee, USA with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1988. After graduation, he works for one year in Tennessee and Florida, USA. He started his career as an Architect in Malaysia in late 1989 working with Arkitek MAA Sdn. Bhd. In December 2000 he joined Mir Shahariman Architect as a Senior Architect and later as a Partner in April 2004. Currently he practices as a Sole Proprietor under the style of Meor Fared Architect. Throughout his 30 years career, Assoc. Prof. Ar Meor Mohammad Fared has been involved with a variety of projects ranging from bungalow, condominiums, commercial buildings, institutional projects, aircraft hangars to hospital complex. During his tenure as the Head of Department, he was instrumental in achieving architectural accreditation from the Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) for the architectural programmes at UPM. He was appointed as a Board Member of LAM from Oct. 2013 to Sept. 2015, from Oct. 2017 to Sept. 2019, and currently from Oct. 2019 to Sept. 2021. He has been a member of the Council of Architectural Accreditation and Education Malaysia (CAAEM) since 2012. He is a certified Architectural Accreditation and Validation Panelist with CAAEM and has conducted architectural accreditation visits to several architectural schools in Malaysia. He has also conducted Validation Visit to overseas schools in Australia and United Kingdom. Due to his expertise in architectural education, he was appointed as External Examiner for architectural programmes at various architectural institutions in Malaysia. He is passionate in the field of affordable and social housing, and community architecture. He was the consultant for an LRGS project on improving the low cost high rise development. Since 2014 he has been involved with the Teratak Semai project, a self-build housing project to build homes for the Orang Asli community at Tapah, Perak. He is also currently part of team looking into alternative high density housing at UPM.
