The Tales of Architecture roadshow focuses on the theme of the Sustainability Development Goal (SDG) and recycled materials are used in the activities. It is a great way to get secondary school students interested in architecture and prepare them for post-secondary study.
At SMK (P) Methodist Klang, Form 4 students were introduced to a journey on becoming an Architect by the guest speakers -from their architectural journey, study – places to study, duration, and working environment, as well as the required skills.
The activities curated are hoped to foster creativity and let school students express their ideas and improve the future. The activities carried out at the schools for now are:
The first is a group contest for model making which they will compete against schools. The theme of the model making is “Our Future City,” and recycled materials will be used. Each group will produce one model, and one model from each school will be selected to qualify for the inter-school competition. The winning model will be displayed in the PAM Centre in October 2023.
The second activity is an individual-based activity that is open for any students that would like to submit an individual entry separate from the group entry, also designing a building using recycled materials. The building should be sustainable and energy-efficient, and the design should take into consideration the SDG.
