The FIFA World Cup 2002, Co-Hosted by Korea and Japan gave efforts to the Korea Institute of Registered Architects (KIRA) and the Japan Institute of Architects (JIA) to organize the first international football competition for architects, initially named the Asian Architects Cup. Since then, the competition has grown in size and proportion, evolving today into what is known as the World Architects Cup (WA-Cup).
The WA-Cup has become a much-anticipated international event, championing friendship between architects from different countries through the game of football. The Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) has been participating in the WA-Cup since 2015, beginning in Thailand, and for 2019, we are proud to announce that PAM will host the WA- CUP in Kuala Lumpur for the first time ever. The Malaysian team represented by PAM were runners-up in last year’s 2018 WA-CUP.
