Recent Malaysian Architecture
Malaysia achieved its independence 60 years ago. Since then, the country has enjoyed development and growth that are enviable to many other countries in the region and the world. Naturally, the country’s growth went through cycles of rapid and moderate development. Though not as robust as the 90s, the Malaysian built environment has witnessed rapid growth in the last decade. Technological advances and the socioeconomic stature of the nation conceived the need for exemplary and innovative spaces for us to live, work and thrive.
Recent Malaysian Architecture is a celebration of architectural gems of the last decade that showcase innovative spatial designs and qualities to enrich the inhabitants’ experience. As society matures, there is an enhanced appreciation of the wellbeing of the community and its environment. Focus of the built environment is no longer limited to grand structures but also includes humble entities which are more inclusive and serves larger portions of society. The exhibition reveals finer architectural details and traits of buildings which are featured in the publication, Malaysian Recent Architecture volume 2, set to be launched concurrently with the exhibition.
We invite the public to indulge into aspects of space making to deepen their understanding and appreciation of buildings that make up the built environment we enjoy every day.
