Farah Mohan’s creative journey has been shaped by influences from the elegance of Art Nouveau to the opulence of Art Deco. These historical art movements have captivated her with their rich narratives and through her work, she strives to combine the ancient technique of batik with the allure of storytelling.
The Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns have impacted Farah as both individual and an artist where she discovered a newfound sense of self and belief that has helped her finds inspiration in her emotions and communicate narratives through the medium of batik painting.
Folktales, with their enchanting storylines, have become a significant source of inspiration for her. She’s drawn drawn to their ability to evoke a range of emotions, often exploring themes of melancholy and introspection. Yet these stories carry messages of resilience, growth, and life lessons. It is through the feminine figures in Farah’s artwork that these tales come to life, reflecting both the strength and vulnerability reflected in the human spirit.
Through her art, she aspires to transport viewers where imagination and reality intertwine, embarking on a visual journey to contemplate the narratives and emotions woven within each piece and discover their own stories within her batik paintings.
As she continue to explore and grow as an artist, she is humbled by the profound power of storytelling and the transformative nature of artistic expression. It is her hope that through her batik art, she can inspire a renewed appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
