DATUM:EDU seeks to explore the pertinent issues of capacity gaps that exists amongst our Malaysian Architectural graduates when they begin their career in an actual practice. In recent years, much has been debated about the significant disparity between the academia’s goals and objectives of producing highly employable graduates and the actual ability demonstrated by our fresh graduates at work.
Our local graduates and those returning from overseas are expected to possess fundamental technical knowledge and working skills when they start their first job and manage a Project independently. Is this a reasonable expectation? Are we grooming our graduates into the right future of our Profession? Do we see a great synergy between our Academia and Practice?
The forum takes a brave dive into discussing the syllabus of our current Architectural education with 3 academicians and 2 practitioners. We attempt to find the silver lining in the future of our Architectural profession by breaking the silos of academia and industry.
DATUM:EDU is ideal for academicians, practitioners passionate about galvanising the education of our future Architects. We welcome young Graduate Architects to join us and share their experience of their first job. A refreshing conversation between a stellar line-up of charismatic Academicians and Practitioners.
