The conference seeks to present internationally renowned architects of note.

A major event of the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF) this Conference has always been THE event that architects look forward to, to jointly celebrate architecture and to educate the public on architecture.

The theme for DATUM:KL 2019 is ‘TOMORROW’ and the conference will present, deliberate and study essential ideas, thoughts and concepts for a better tomorrow.

The conference lines-up highly acclaimed, local and international speakers specially selected from various parts of the world, and bring a variety of philosophies from both eastern and western architects, juxtaposed against each other for the participants to reflect upon the thoughts and ideas presented by the specially selected speakers.

Since its inception in 2003, DATUM:KL has been growing steadily with the number of participants increasing at a rapid rate that includes not just architects but a considerable contingent of developers and students from Malaysia, and also other neighbouring countries. The inaugural DATUM:KL was attended by 380 participants in year 2003 and has grown to over 2,700 participants from all over the Asian region. This year, DATUM:KL will be a 3 Day event incorporation GREEN architecture and interior design works, previously known as DATUM:GREEN and DATUM+.

Peter Pichler was born in Bolzano, Italy in 1982. He studied Architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where he graduated with distinction in the masterclass of Zaha Hadid, as well as in the United States at the University of California (UCLA). Martijn is an award-winning Beijing based Dutch architect. He has been in China since 2010 and received PhD training under Chinese master architect Li Xiaodong, after being trained as an architect at TU Delft, in the Netherlands. He built his first building , the BlackBox, at age 19, after winning the ‘who comes after Rem Koolhaas’ competition. Rodney Eggleston is an Australian architect and a founding director of March Studio. Rodney was trained at RMIT University, Melbourne. Towards the end of his study, he workedfor Rem Koolhaas at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture in Rotterdam. Thomas Chapman was born in Johannesburg in 1984. Chapman has Masters degrees in architecture (2008) and urban design (2013) from the University of the Witwatersrand, both which explored the reintroduction of ‘publicness’ into the post-apartheid city.
