Building a Sustainable Future at ‘Joy of Creating and Building’ Program extends to the Southern Region

The third “”Joy of Creating and Building”” program was warmly welcomed at SK Taman Tun Aminah on July 20, 2023. The program aims to introduce primary school students to the world of architecture and the profession of an architect.
The day of program started at 8 am with the arrival of guests and students at the school’s hall and was marked by inspiring speeches from Ar. Adj. Prof. Norzaini Mufti, Director of KLAF2023, and Ar. Ahmad Farik Abd Ghaffar, Chairman of PAM Southern Chapter.
The highlight of the event was the sharing sessions by Ms. Livingwater A/P Ponnusamy, a representative of SWM Environment Sdn Bhd, and Farzana Nadhirah binti Abdullah, an alumni of UTHM. Their insights and experiences provided a real-world perspective on the importance of sustainable architecture and the 3R approach: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
The students were given a 2′ x 2′ plot to build their unique tiny homes, which were then combined to represent a single city-housing development, aptly named “”3R: City””. This hands-on activity not only allowed the students to express their creativity but also taught them about sustainable design principles.
The event concluded at 1 pm with the presentation and announcement of the winners of the “”Tiny Home in 3R: City”” activity. The “”Joy of Creating and Building”” program hope to foster the next generation of architects and innovators by exposing young minds to the possibilities of transforming the environment into sustainable buildings for a more sustainable future.
