DATUM : KL (Day 1)









DATUM:KL Day 1 opens with a bang on the 25th of July, convened by Ar. Esmonde Yap, the first presentation draws its curtains on Ar. Chris Wong from C’Arch Architecture + Design representing Malaysia as he opens with a dissection of a recently designed bungalow! Following up was the powerhouse Ar. Ma Yansong, founder of MAD Architects from China, dissecting the multitude of complex revolutionary work he has done for his nation. A short break lighten up moods as the audience got themselves into an architectural treat from Iran, as Ar. Mohamadreza Ghodousi from ZAV Architects gave a phenomenal insight into his multiple bits of work that had to cater towards the Iranian climate. Ar. Mikako Oshima representing Nihhon Sekkei, Japan soon followed with a presentation on preserving local heritage architecture after the magnitude of natural disasters had affected their heritage architecture scene. A finale from the Managing Director of Snohetta Asia, Mr. Richard Wood closed the curtains with an insight into the Oslo Opera House, and the upcoming Jesselton Docklands waterfront development project amongst many more, that concluded how the 5 visionaries of today’s DATUM:KL explored their capacities in creativity beyond the norm!
